Job Description
We are seeking dedicated Nursing Assistant Instructors to join our team, who are passionate about teaching adult learners and empowering the next generation of long-term care workers. In this role, you will provide instruction on essential topics relevant to the long-term care industry, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for quality caregiving in skilled nursing facilities.
Classes may be conducted in a non-traditional classroom setting, such as a skilled nursing facility, with theoretical instruction delivered online through self-paced or live sessions via Zoom. Comprehensive training materials, including clinical guides and presentation slides, will be provided to support your teaching.
Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to established policies and procedures for the Nursing Assistant Training Program (NATP).
Follow CDPH-approved lesson plans and training schedules for both theory and clinical practice.
Ensure completion of all required training hours: 60 hours of theory and 100 hours of clinical practice.
Develop engaging lesson plans based on approved theory and clinical modules.
Implement instruction in line with approved lesson plans for all theory and clinical modules.
Maintain accurate attendance records for students and complete necessary documentation.
Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies to enhance student learning and retention.
Provide guidance and support to students regarding their classroom experience and study habits.
Collaborate with NATP staff to resolve any issues impacting student training and retention.
Create a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
Upload and update student records and progress in the database regularly.
Conduct remediation and tutoring sessions as needed.
Monitor attendance and communicate with students regarding any absences.
Develop and facilitate make-up opportunities for students who miss classes.
Be available to students outside of regular training hours for additional support.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Valid nursing license (RN or LVN) in California.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
At least 1 year of verifiable experience providing care to chronically ill or elderly patients in various long-term care settings.
Bachelor's degree in education or a health-related field is preferred.
Completion of a course in teaching adults or an approved course by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
2 years of experience teaching adults, with at least 1 year supervising nurse aides.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Zoom.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of adult learners, including socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic differences.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as well as travel to clinical training sites.
Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation.
Job Type: Part-time, Temporary
Salary: $30 - $40 per hour
Schedule: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM (Weekdays) and 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Saturdays)
Note: Occasional travel to the Los Angeles area for in-person meetings may be required (2-8 times per year).
