Job Description
1. Designs, develops and implements scalable solutions for security system installations, upgrades, repairs and change outs. 2. Researches and tests new security technologies, systems, equipment, components and products. 3. Provides recommendation for technology enhancements and improvements and perform due diligence in assessing new technology solutions, including cost and budget preparation. 4. Oversight of all aspects of the University access control systems which includes planning, design, installation and maintenance for new and existing clients. 5. Establishes and implements effective, predictable and measureable processes and procedures. 6. Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentations and presentations. 7. Oversees systems integration functions, working with and providing direction to outside consultants. 8. Suggests areas for improvements in internal processes by remaining on the forefront of emerging industry best practices on security systems. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skill/ability 1: Strong leadership, supervisory, problem solving, team building, and customer service skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to manage up. Extensive background in electronic security systems.
Required Skill/ability 2: Strong and demonstrated ability to lead and work calmly, effectively and flexibly in an ever-changing environment with a diverse group of colleagues and customers. Strong people management skills, proven ability to work unsupervised and exercise sound, independent judgment.
Required Skill/ability 3: Strongly demonstrated ability to explain and train complex issues in simple lay terms, and to give instructions to individuals with widely diverse skill sets and abilities. Proven skills in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and mitigating all security systems issues with team members and contractors.
Required Skill/ability 4: Ability to work on and prioritize a wide variety of tasks simultaneously. Strongly demonstrated ability to handle complex designs, accuracy, and ability to pay attention to detail.
Required Skill/ability 5: Ability to work in heavy IT environment and proven ability in network theory/design and field recognition of network hardware. Proven ability in recognizing security system design, components, integration techniques and be able to diagnose and troubleshoot same system.
Preferred Education: Minimum 5 years of project management experience encompassing both office-based and field operations. Experience working with large access control systems, intrusion systems, and IP based video management systems. IT experience and understanding of network infrastructure. Excellent knowledge of Excel, Access, Word, and Windows.
